Take time for you

Take time for you

What is your definition of SELF CARE?  What do you do for no one else but YOU?  This may be a difficult question for many to answer, as daily tasks, responsibilities and commitments often take priority over self-care.

Self-Care defined by the Oxford Dictionary is: “The practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health.”

When asking different individuals to define self-care and if they were intentional on practicing it, surprisingly many did not.  Some of them defined self-care as follows:

Spending time with friends
• Alone time/meditation
Spiritual Connection
• Fishing, hunting
Taking a vacation

So…. what action steps are you taking to preserve or improve your own health?  It can be as simple as alone time in the morning before the chaos of the day begins, or as intentional as a vacation far away from yournormal activities to gather yourself.  It can be a soak in the tub or a swim in the ocean.  It can occur daily, or several times per year.  Whatever it is, its important to carve out time for it.

One of my favorite self-care rituals is using amazing skin and body care products.  One of my favs is the body scrub and body oil by KiMistry skincare! Coco Mango and Lavender/Eucalyptus are my favorite scents and are deliciously enticing and relaxing!! My dear friend, Kimberly Condell makes these body products with so much love and care.  Check out her products by clicking the link:  https://www.kimistryskin.comand follow her on Instagram: @kimistryskin

Whatever way you choose to practice self-care, make sure that you are intentional and encourage your loved ones to care for themselves as well.

My self care activity is fishing…nothing more relaxing than sitting on the lake and watching the world go by…I don’t even have to catch any fish!

So true. Thanks for the reality check. We think rushing to sit out on the balcony sipping coffee and racing through our things to do list in our mind, before the rest of the household rises to control the rest of our world, is self-care. If only we could consider ourselves the way we consider our loved ones. I think we secretly hope they will reciprocate. That’s what thrills us.
