Recently I was playing a game on my phone. In this game one must coordinate and clear colors in order to advance to the next level. (It is a relaxing pastime of mine). I had finally made it to a higher level, and of course as the level increases the game gets more challenging.
However, I was stuck on that level and had to keep repeating the game until I was successful. It dawned on me that I was so focused on getting to the next level in the game, that I did not realize I had earned rewards from my previous wins to assist me in navigating the more challenging levels.
Once I used the rewards earned, it was easier for me to advance to the next level of the game.
Why was I hesitant on using my perks for my advancement? Sometimes we feel that if we accept any assistance or help—even ones that we have earned, that it makes the achievement less valuable.
Of course, we should not rely solely on handouts, but I do believe we are here on this earth to help one another navigate our journeys and make life easier if possible. We work hard to earn the benefit of reaping some grace when needed. Ask yourself, what are you resisting help from? How are you helping others? What tools are before you that can make life just a little easier for you?
It is also important to remember that we are never alone. We often neglect to use our resources. Our most imminent and valuable resource is already within us, and available when we need Him. We should not neglect to call on Him if nothing else to say thank you. (Psalm 145:18) “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth” (NIV)
Remember; it is okay to accept help. It is also important to reach out to others if you can help them.
